Inspired by the tradition of family gatherings around the table, where food is more than just a meal, our menu creates an opportunity for sharing and togetherness, providing the feeling of dining in the comfort of your own home. Every day, with love, passion, and care, our team creates true magic for the palate. Everything from pastries to baked goods and pasta is made by hand in our kitchen, and this dedication to every detail results in flavors that win the hearts of visitors. Mokosh is like a living organism that breathes with the rhythm of the day and changes with the passing seasons, always adapting to the needs of our guests. From morning to dusk, from breakfast, lunch to dinner, our doors are always open for those craving a hearty meal, a quick bite, or simply enjoying coffee and cake. The bar is the beating heart of our garden. Dynamic and visually appealing, it adjusts its atmosphere and offerings to the rhythm of the day. The morning ambiance is inspired by brunch, with fresh fruit, pastries, and cakes on display, exuding a sense of freshness. As the sun sets, the bar transforms into a sophisticated cocktail destination, showcasing the skills of our mixologists and creating a relaxed atmosphere for socializing. We take particular pride in our on-site mixology laboratory, where we produce all syrups, dehydrate, ferment, and prepare all elements for our cocktails ourselves. This approach allows us to control the quality and freshness of every component, creating unique and innovative cocktails with impeccably balanced flavors that reflect our passion for excellence and creativity. Our bar offers experiences suited to different occasions, whether it's a morning gathering over brunch, an afternoon refreshment, or an evening socializing with cocktails. Our goal is to provide an unforgettable experience through every moment spent in our space.
Art and design
The design of the space in the Mokosh restaurant reflects the fusion of the past and the present, combining the elegance of Viennese Art Nouveau with the eccentricity of the Memphis Group. Inspired by the concept of "Historical threads, modern tissue/weaving", we have created an interior that revives the vibe of art and creativity, but also provides comfort. •Inspiring ambience: Restaurant Mokosh is located in an Art Nouveau villa with a large, rich garden, and the interior design is characterized by a maximalist approach and inspired by Art Nouveau and the Memphis movement. This kind of environment, in which every detail of the space exudes creativity and uniqueness, provides visitors with a unique, relaxing and inspiring experience. •Encouraging contrast: While the interior decoration offers creativity, a different perspective and a visual spectacle, the food presentation is refined and simple, and this contrast further emphasizes the unique identity of Mokosh restaurant. • Green oasis: Mokosh is not only a restaurant, but also a green oasis in the heart of the city. The first step into our garden gives the visitor the feeling of entering another world where it is easy to relax and enjoy the natural environment in the middle of the urban landscape. • Atmosphere of life and joy: With soft sounds of music interspersed with the murmur of the fountain, Mokosh is a lively place full of positive energy. Our intention was to create an environment for gathering, socializing and enjoying beautiful moments together. We strive to capture the spirit of the concept of total art from the Art Nouveau era by embracing different artistic mediums and collaborating with talented individuals. The artistic elements span a variety of media, including printmaking, painting and sculpture, inviting guests to take a visual journey through the space. With each carefully selected piece, we aim to evoke emotions, stimulate conversation and offer a multi-sensory experience that complements culinary pleasures and celebrates the fusion of traditional and modern aesthetics.
Heritage and architecture
The history of the villa, which was built as his family home by the famous architect Kamilo Tončić, making it one of the centers of Split's social and artistic life, and the Mediterranean tradition of enjoying food and socializing together are the inspiration for the story that opens a new chapter in the life of a building that is particularly close to the heart of the people of Split. The Art Nouveau building in Slavićeva Street was originally designed by the Czech architect Karel Beneš, but Tončić changed the project and independently designed the interior of the villa and garden elements, the fountain, benches, columns and vases made by the students of the Craft School, of which he was the founder and director. Over time, the garden has lost part of its surface, but it has retained its fairy-tale charm, while the Tončić villa is protected as an immovable cultural asset and part of Split's architectural heritage. Today, the famous garden has been carefully restored, and elements of its decoration made a hundred years ago have been kept as an integral part of it. A luxurious and slightly wild garden full of hidden places is completed with a distinctive fountain whose gentle murmur creates a special, relaxing atmosphere in which it is so easy to indulge in enjoyment. The villa itself, whose renovation was done in collaboration with the Split Conservation Department, architect Katja Stubnya, Studio 502 and artist Jelena Bando, who created a series of paintings for Mokosh, in a new chapter of its story reveals to visitors corners that until recently were hidden from the public eye.

Why Mokosh?
In essence, the goddess Mokoš is an inspiration for promoting values such as sustainability, balance with nature, female strength and family, and respect for tradition and history, all of which are very relevant in today's world. In modern times, the figure of the goddess Mokoš is reinterpreted as a symbol of sustainability, respect for nature and as an advocate of the balance between man and the environment. Mokoš symbolizes the power of nature and its ability to nourish and protect us. Every fruit of the earth, every spice, every food we use, brings with it the story of the seasons, reminding us of the importance of respecting and connecting with the rhythms of nature. Mokoš, as the protector of women, household and family, supports our vision of togetherness and support for each other, which is reflected in our atmosphere as a place where people gather, socialize and celebrate life together.
